AirTight Networks Announces the AirTight API for Wireless Intrusion Detection and Prevention

Industry's First Open API to Allow WLAN Equipment to Easily Integrate Industry Leading Wireless Intrusion Prevention Capabilities Available as Part of 4.0 Release

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 13, 2005 -- AirTight Networks™, the leading provider of wireless perimeter security solutions, today announced Release 4.0 of its industry leading SpectraGuard Enterprise products. Release 4.0 includes the AirTight Networks application programming interface (API) allowing easy integration of wireless intrusion detection and prevention capabilities, along with precise device location tracking, into wireless LAN switching systems. In addition Release 4.0 includes new performance monitoring features and new sensors with external antennas for greater monitoring coverage.

The AirTight API encompasses three major components which can be used in various combinations by AirTight's partners and customers. These are:

-- the AirTight Server API
-- the AirTight Sensor API
-- the AirTight Applications API.
The AirTight API is targeted primarily at WLAN switch companies that desire fast integration of best-of-breed wireless intrusion detection and prevention, location services, and advanced monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities. Colubris Networks recently announced several new products based on this integration.

The AirTight Server API allows the SpectraGuard Enterprise Server to exchange information and commands with any WLAN controller, switch, or other centralized intelligent management platform. This includes:

-- exchanging lists of authorized (known good) and/or unauthorized (known
    malicious) devices
-- initiating traces and shut-down or isolation commands on the wired and
wireless networks for potential security threats
Implementing the AirTight Server API further enhances AirTight's industry leading device and event detection and classification capabilities, allows for more integrated management, lowers TCO (total cost of ownership), and delivers the two-tier (wired and wireless) security capabilities that many OEMs and enterprises desire.

The AirTight Sensor API allows a SpectraGuard-enabled system to:

-- load SpectraGuard Sensor software onto APs from our OEM partners -
    turning them into SpectraGuard Sensors
-- utilize OEM APs and their data collection capabilities to augment
AirTight's sensors, without installing SpectraGuard software - by reading
    normal AP management traffic
The Sensor API enables seamless deployment of an integrated AP and sensor network -- enabling both higher levels of security and lower costs for both OEMs and their enterprise customers.

The AirTight Applications API enables integration of 3rd party applications with any SpectraGuard Enterprise system or SpectraGuard enabled OEM infrastructure. These may include 3rd party WLAN planning applications, WLAN performance or RF management applications, WLAN packet analyzers or trouble shooting applications, or WLAN location tracking applications. AirTight is working with a number of vendors in this area already.

"The AirTight API allowed Colubris to quickly and easily integrate wireless IDS/IPS, RF management, and location tracking into the Colubris Intelligent MultiService System," said Pierre Trudeau, founder and CTO of Colubris Networks. "Delivering this advanced set of features quickly was easy with the support of the AirTight Networks OEM team."

In addition, Release 4.0 adds a number of performance monitoring capabilities to the product -- providing real time charts which enhance the operator's ability to see, monitor, and manage the performance of their wireless LAN network. This capability paired with SpectraGuard's existing wireless troubleshooting capabilities makes it a powerful tool for network administrators managing performance of their WLAN.

With Release 4.0, AirTight is also shipping a new SpectraGuard Sensor with the ability to use external, connectorized antennas. This new Sensor enables long range outdoor applications, factories, manufacturing facilities, and other unusual indoor building topologies to be addressed in the most cost effective manner possible.

"We're really pleased with the new connectorized Sensor and the performance enhancements in SpectraGuard Enterprise 4.0," said Chris Roberts, IT Security Operations Supervisor at ADESA. "Given our unique outdoor car auction sites, it was critical that we have a robust sensor solution that can withstand widely varying environmental conditions and provide broad coverage."

SpectraGuard Enterprise Release 4.0 is available now. Existing customers with a valid support contract or under warranty will receive the upgrade at no charge. For new customers, a Starter Kit, which includes a SpectraGuard Enterprise 4.0 server and two sensors, is priced starting at $7,500.
