AIS (American Internet Services) Bolsters Senior Management Team With New Hires and Internal Promotions

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 20, 2012) - AIS (American Internet Services), a leading provider of enterprise-class data center, cloud and connectivity services in the western United States, today announced two new hires and two internal promotions to bolster its senior management team as the company accelerates its expansion into the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud space.

The new hires are Cindy Greatrex as vice president of sales and Brian Wood as vice president of marketing. The promotions are Steve Wallace to chief technical officer and Frank Gaff to vice president of service assurance and chief compliance officer.

"The launch of our BusinessCloud1, which is San Diego's first full-featured VMware-based cloud service, has put the company on the path for rapid growth," said Tim Caulfield, chief executive officer at AIS. "Cindy and Brian, with their breadth and depth of experience, along with their can-do attitudes, are exactly what our business needs at this stage of our service expansion. As for the promotions, both Steve and Frank were instrumental in helping AIS get positioned to expand beyond colocation to where we are now -- offering a wide range of managed services along with a growing line of IaaS cloud services."

  • Cindy Greatrex has nearly 20 years of technology sales experience that includes channel and partner activities. Her background includes leading VAR-based sales activities for Medweb, a firm specializing in SaaS cloud telemedicine. She also drove partner development for Integralis, a global provider of IT Security and Information Risk Management solutions.

  • Brian Wood has over 15 years of experience with strong success in all aspects of B2B marketing and lead generation. He led lead generation and inside sales for embedded wireless infrastructure supplier Radisys, and was formerly responsible for global marketing at telecoms platform vendor Continuous Computing. Previous roles were at Sorrento Networks, Rhythms NetConnections, and NextWave Telecom.

  • CTO Steve Wallace, a seasoned technologist with over 20 years of hands-on experience in data security, network operations and telecommunications, was instrumental in the development of the virtual private data center / IaaS product lines at AIS. He is also responsible for leading the company's network and managed services engineering efforts, and owns the AIS strategic services roadmap.

  • Frank Gaff took over responsibility for compliance and drove company efforts to complete the SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type 2, the SSAE 16 SOC 2 Type 2, and the SSAE 16 SOC 3 audits for its San Diego and Phoenix enterprise-class data centers. He also spearheaded the AIS Change Management and Incident Management procedures that were developed and implemented using the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) architecture.

"Tim has done an excellent job building out a senior management team that can be truly impactful," said Scott McCormack, partner at Seaport Capital and AIS Board member. "With an expanding services portfolio that plays to the company's strengths in delivering enterprise-class physical and virtual datacenter infrastructure, as well as the capital, the facilities and a strong, proactive team that's dedicated to helping accelerate the success of its clients, AIS is well-positioned for rapid growth."
