NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Apr 3, 2013) - New York City custom suit maker, Alan David Custom, has announced today that their new factory, purchased in Long Island City, N.Y., is now open and operating to produce all of their custom suits. The LIC factory offers Alan David Custom a full 15,000 square feet of room in which to craft custom suits and has been transformed from a standard factory to a special workshop capable of providing high quality garment making. Together with their posh midtown Manhattan showroom, the new factory offers Alan David Custom a unique opportunity to offer a high level of attention to each client and every suit of clothing produced.
Before the new factory workshop was purchased, Alan David Custom suits were created in a factory located in Canada. This arrangement was one that served the NYC clothier rather well for several years. However, the opportunity to obtain a production facility that was so close to Midtown has greatly enhanced what Alan David Custom has been able to offer in specialized custom suit making techniques. One of the most valuable enhancements to become available has been the addition of basted fittings to each client order. Basted fittings are a type of custom sewing that allows for multiple fittings and a restyling of the garment if necessary. This process requires that the suit be taken back to the workshop for modifications and isn't something that is possible when the factory is so far away or in another country.
"No custom made suits that we create at Alan David Custom are ever outsourced. Now, everything is made in our New York City facilities," said Alan Horowitz, owner of Alan David Custom. "Owning our factory makes it possible for us to better control costs, maintain our competitive prices and to use the finest custom tailoring techniques to ensure the best fit and highest quality suit of clothing for every client we serve."
Always known for creating only the finest hand-tailored clothing, Alan David Custom has never manufactured ready-to-wear or made-to-measure clothing. Each custom suit of clothing starts with a unique pattern and a carefully drafted design that is created for a single client. "Our new facility in Long Island City helps immeasurably in our primary goal of ensuring that every Alan David Custom suit is made to the highest possible standards," said Mr. Horowitz.
Now the owner of his family's business, Mr. Horowitz continues traditions begun in 1926 by his grandfather, Moe Ginsburg, who was a well-known and beloved member of the New York City retail apparel industry for many years. Mr. Horowitz began working in his grandfather's stores during breaks from school in the summer and, after graduating from college and working in accounting for a short time, Alan returned to his family's business for good in 1992. Since then, Alan David Custom has cultivated a valuable relationship with clients and has built a reputation upon providing the best in hand-tailored clothing and high quality men's garments. The newly finished facility in LIC is direct evidence of Alan David Custom's dedication to offering the best value in exceptionally crafted men's clothing.
