Alberta Court of Appeal Dismisses Appeal to MATL Power Line

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - May 5, 2009) - Montana Alberta Tie Ltd. (MATL) is pleased to announce that the Alberta Court of Appeal has dismissed the landowner appeal to the MATL line. In Decision 167 released today, the court states that the Alberta Energy Utility Board's undertook a "comprehensive balancing" of social, economic and environmental issues and concluded that "there is no reason (for the court) to disturb the conclusion reached by the board in respect to public interest."

"MATL is pleased with the Court of Appeal decision, however our work isn't done yet," said Mr. Bob Williams, MATL Vice President, Regulatory. "We remain committed to listening to our landowner neighbors and their concerns. We will continue to do what we can to find solutions to all legitimate landowner issues."

Landowners who wish to meet with MATL executives to discuss remaining concerns about the construction of the MATL line are invited to contact MATL at or call toll free: 1-877-290-MATL (1-877-290-6285) to arrange a meeting.

The MATL international power line (IPL) ties together the Alberta and Montana power grids lending more stability to both electricity systems and providing a means to get clean, renewable wind energy to market. All capacity on the line has been purchased by Montana-based wind-energy producers.
