Alberta Innovates Bio Solutions: Public Lectures Featuring Jay Ingram

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Oct. 25, 2013) - The Alberta Prion Research Institute is partnering with the University of Alberta, University of Calgary and Keyano College to host public lectures featuring Jay Ingram, former host of Daily Planet and Quirks and Quarks. Mr. Ingram will be joined by Stefanie Czub, Adjunct Professor, University of Calgary, and Research Manager, Canadian Food Inspection Agency; Hermann Schätzl, Professor, University of Calgary; Valerie Sim, Assistant Professor, University of Alberta; and Holger Wille, Associate Professor, University of Alberta.

Mr. Ingram will give a 45-minute presentation on prion diseases and the prion research being done in Alberta. "Some of the best prion disease research goes on in this province, and why not? We've had cases of mad cow disease, and we are watching the slow but inexorable spread of chronic wasting disease. Add to that the tantalizing connections between diseases like these and Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, and you couldn't make a better case for supporting this work."

Join Jay Ingram for an engaging discussion about the challenges posed by prion diseases that affect industries, animals and people every day.
