Alberta Snowboarding Launches Freestyle Series at COP

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Jan. 8, 2016) -

The Alberta Snowboarding Association is kicking off the 2016 season with the 1st stop of the ASA Southern Series with a freestyle weekend at Canada Olympic Park.

On Saturday January 9th, the Slopestyle athletes will take to the jumps and rails on the West line for the first FIS event of 2016 in Alberta. Sunday January 10th riders will take their skills to the Olympic sized 22 foot half pipe.

More than 50 riders are expected to ride both on Saturday and Sunday. The athletes are from across Southern Alberta, with riders from Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Canmore, Cochrane, amongst other places.

Alberta Snowboarding would like to thank the sponsors, parents and volunteers that make these exciting events possible. Prizing for the participants has proudly been provided by local snowboard shop Mission Snow & Skate, eco-friendly clothing company Alpha Base Layer and Fitter First "Balance & Fitness for Life".
