Albuquerque Self Storage Company Teams With Local Church to Help the Needy in the Area

Armored Mini Storage (a Division of Everest Storage II LLC), a Leading Provider of Storage Units in Albuquerque, NM, Is Working With Calvary Chapel East to Collect Food and Goods for Those Less Fortunate

ALBUQUERQUE, NM--(Marketwire - February 23, 2010) - Armored Mini Storage on Indian School Road NE, Albuquerque, has formed an alliance with Calvary Chapel East to bring food and essentials to the community at large. The idea for the "fishes-n-loaves" food pantry began when the manager of Armored Mini Storage, Brenda Solano, contacted her church to inquire if there was some way that the facility she manages could help them with drives and collections. The idea spawned from another drive in which Armored's sister company, Everest Self Storage, worked with local representatives of the Blue Star Mothers of America to help collect food and goods for the families of soldiers stationed overseas during the holidays. The drive proved successful with volunteers positioned at various locations throughout southern CA who collected items and then stored them in storage units donated by Everest Self Storage.

Local Calvary Chapel representatives Mistie Micklevitz and Shay Crider have run drives similar to this in the past. Mistie commented on the fact that the timing couldn't have been better. Last fall Mistie came up with the idea of conducting a food drive after taking note of so many needy families in the area, but due to some changes in the location of Calvary's school and other setbacks within the church, they had no place to store the items they could collect from a drive such as this. After praying and contemplating options, Mistie was surprised by the phone call from Brenda at Armored Mini Storage offering to donate a storage unit to help the church.

Mistie enlisted the help of Shay Crider. Shay had conducted outreach through her missionary work with Calvary Chapel East in other poverty stricken communities in Honduras and Israel. Shay commented, "I was conducting these food and clothing drives for other countries, why not help out our local community?" In teaming with Mistie and Armored Mini Storage, the initiative was launched. Now Mistie and Shay have the support of Hacienda Home Centers, a local hardware supply store, to help build shelves in the storage unit to organize the donations.
