Alcool NB Liquor customers come through once again for MADD Canada

Attention: News Editor OAKVILLE/ONTARIO/MEDIA RELEASE--(Marketwire - Dec. 10, 2009) - Alcool NB Liquor and its customers have raised $44,107 for MADD Canada and the fight to stop impaired driving.

The funds were raised through a prompted donation appeal held between November 26 and December 3. During that week, customers making purchases at Alcool NB Liquor stores were asked if they would like to donate $1 to MADD Canada.

"This donation of $44,107 from Alcool NB Liquor and its customers is not only incredibly generous but it indicates the strong support there is for the work our volunteers and partners are doing to stop impaired driving," said Andrew Murie, MADD Canada's Chief Executive Officer. "We thank everyone for their donations, and we also thank the staff of Alcool NB Liquor for their efforts to make this campaign such a success."

"The response to Alcool NB Liquor's prompted donation campaign was overwhelming," said Dana Clendenning, President and CEO of Alcool NB Liquor. " This clearly demonstrates that there is a strong interest in the work MADD Canada does here in the province of New Brunswick and ANBL is a proud supporter of this work ."

The funds will be used to support the delivery of MADD Canada's High School Multi-Media Assembly Program to high schools throughout New Brunswick and the Campaign 911 partnership with local police services to encourage the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.

This is the second prompted donation campaign Alcool NB Liquor has held in support of MADD Canada. The first, held in September, raised $30,587. The long-standing partnership between MADD Canada and Alcool NB Liquor began more than 12 years ago when the corporation joined the annual Project Red Ribbon campaign. Earlier this year, the corporation helped MADD Canada launch Campaign 911 in New Brunswick and also chose MADD Canada to receive a portion of the proceeds from sales of its new re-usable, recyclable shopping bags. NB Liquor is also a sponsor of MADD Canada's first-ever French High School Multi-Media Program, Fini.

"Alcool NB Liquor has been a generous partner of MADD Canada for a number of years and their support is crucial to our work," Mr. Murie said. "We look forward to continued opportunities to work with Alcool NB Liquor and promote our shared message of safe and sober driving."
