Alex and Ani Launches "Positive Is How I Live" Charity by Design Bangle to Support the Joe Andruzzi Foundation

CRANSTON, RI--(Marketwired - August 08, 2013) -  Alex and Ani, LLC has partnered with the Joe Andruzzi Foundation to create the "Positive Is How I Live" expandable wire bangle as part of the Rhode Island-based lifestyle brand's charitable initiative, Charity by Design. The newest addition to the Charity by Design collection was specifically created for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, a nonprofit organization with an (Up)Beat philosophy, dedicated to providing help, hope and a reason to smile for cancer patients and their families by contributing financial and emotional support. Through the collaboration, twenty percent (20%) of the proceeds from all bangle sales, with a minimum donation of $20,000, will go directly to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation in support of its mission.

"We have been following Joe Andruzzi since he played for the New England Patriots, having been inspired by his story and positive outlook on life and its challenges. The 'power of positivity' is something we all live by every day here at Alex and Ani," stated Nicki Castonguay-Maher, VP of Charity by Design at Alex and Ani. "Comprised of the word positivity in many different languages, the 'Positive is How I Live' charm symbolizes that positivity is universal. Alex and Ani and Charity by Design is honored to be associated with such an influential organization and we are dedicated to share and spread the Joe Andruzzi Foundation's mission."

Joe Andruzzi, a 10-year NFL veteran and three-time New England Patriots Super Bowl Champion co-founded the Joe Andruzzi Foundation with his wife, Jen, after recovering from non-Hodgkin's Burkitt's Lymphoma six years ago. Today's launch of the "Positive Is How I Live" bangle is not by chance; it is intentional and meaningful as it was six years ago that Andruzzi received his last chemotherapy treatment. Since that date, he has been cancer-free.

"After beating cancer with the support of family and friends, an aggressive chemotherapy treatment plan and an upbeat attitude, I was motivated to help others affected by cancer," said Andruzzi. "My wife Jen and I realized how fortunate we were to have the financial resources to pay our bills and focus on my recovery without worry and still be able to give our children the attention they needed during this challenging time. We truly believe that a positive outlook and spirit got us through and are thrilled to combine our beliefs and commitment to supporting those affected by cancer, with Alex and Ani, a company founded on positivity and a belief in sharing its message with others."

Each "Positive Is How I Live" bangle is accompanied by three meaningful words, Inspiration, Happiness and Enthusiasm. Available in two finishes, Russian Gold and Russian Silver, the Charity by Design bangle is affordably priced at $28.00 and will be sold at all Alex and Ani Retail Locations, Alex and Ani Retailer Partners and online at

About The Joe Andruzzi Foundation

The Joe Andruzzi Foundation was founded in 2008 to help cancer patients and their families make critical mortgage, rent and utility payments during financially-challenging times, and to fund pediatric brain cancer research. It also provides patients with social and emotional support and acts as a general resource for families. Joe Andruzzi, a former offensive guard with the New England Patriots, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Burkitt's Lymphoma in 2007 and was treated at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital. Disease-free less than a year later, Joe dedicated his life to supporting other cancer patients and funding life-saving research. The Joe Andruzzi Foundation is Joe and his wife Jen's second philanthropic effort; in 2003, they started the C.J. Buckley Brain Cancer Research Fund at Children's Hospital Boston in memory of C.J. Buckley, a young man with an inoperable brain tumor who touched their hearts before losing his battle in 2002. The fund supports much-needed, innovative research into the molecular nature of pediatric brain tumors, novel treatment therapies and alternatives to multiple surgeries. The aim is to contribute to the growing knowledge base of available brain cancer cures, making treatment more widely available to all.
