Alfresco Picked by Activision for Customer Web Portals and Intranet Collaboration

Activision Awards Points to Enterprise Content Management Solution for Low Cost and Ease of Use

LONDON--(Marketwire - June 16, 2008) - Alfresco Software, Inc., the leader in open source enterprise content management (ECM), today announced that Activision has selected Alfresco document management, collaboration and Web content management products for the company's new Internet customer and corporate intranet portals.

Activision is a leading worldwide developer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment and leisure products. Activision was the No.1 third-party U.S. publisher of video games for both console and handheld platforms for calendar 2007, according to the NDP Group, a market research firm providing news and information on consumer trends, sales and marketing information.

Activision is using the innovative Alfresco Web Content Management (WCM) application to manage content for a series of new interactive customer Web portals, each centered on one of the company's major video game franchises. These 40 micro-sites, in six different languages, will provide a personalized one-to-one Web experience that lets more than 5 million video gamers test games and offer feedback, receive special pre-launch perks and information, and communicate interactively.

The portal program, which rolled out in December of 2007, is designed to drive repeat visits, create buzz and build a franchise community, all at a fraction of the cost of traditional television advertising. Alfresco's systems integration partner, CIGNEX, along with the creative agency Studiocom, have been instrumental in building and deploying this solution.

"Alfresco provides a collaborative framework that keeps the multimedia communications flowing among Activision, its marketing agencies, affiliated game development studios and the user communities. Previous solutions we tried were too complicated for these types of online interactive consumer projects," said Niel Armstrong, vice president of Information Technology, Activision. "Alfresco is considerably easier to implement than a traditional enterprise content management solution and costs significantly less."

Activision is also using Alfresco as the platform for an intranet project designed to share production content and documentation among the company's studio operation, quality assurance and production departments. The studio operation group manages the standards required by the various video game platforms, details policies and procedures, and manages feedback and bug fixes through the portal. The quality assurance group coordinates all submissions and corrections based on feedback from studio operations, prior to handoff of the masters to production, also through the portal.

"Activision's use of Alfresco is another example of our success in the media and entertainment sector. The use of Alfresco WCM to deliver Activision's richer internet applications with Web 2.0 capabilities that are easy to use and integrate with their existing tools is a compelling endorsement of our vision," commented John Powell, CEO and Co-founder, Alfresco Software. "As a result of their outstanding use of Alfresco WCM functionality to deliver a rich user experience, Activision has been awarded the WCM Implementation of the Year in the 2007 Alfresco Excellence Awards."

Niel Armstrong and CIGNEX will be presenting an online webinar detailing the Activision.com implementation of Alfresco on June 24 and 12pm EDT. For more information visit: http://cignex.webex.com
