ALG Software Named Example Vendor in Five Categories in Industry Report on CPM

Recognition by Leading Analyst Firm Reinforces ALG's Value to Its Customers and Industry-leading Position

ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 30, 2005 -- ALG Software, a global provider of corporate performance management solutions, today announced that it has been identified as an example vendor in five categories of Gartner's "Hype Cycle for Corporate Performance Management (CPM) 2005" report. ALG Software was named in the following categories: Current Customer Profitability, Discrete Predictive Planning and Budgeting, Value-Based Management, Best-of-Breed CPM Applications and Activity-Based Management.

"ALG Software's sole focus for fifteen years has been on working closely with our customers to develop analytic products that best contribute to corporate growth and profitability," said Frédéric Laluyaux, senior vice president of operations for ALG Software. "We believe being named by Gartner in five CPM categories reinforces our solution's value to our customers."

ALG Software's flagship CPM solution is the Enterprise Performance Optimization (EPO) Suite, which includes collaborative applications for Activity Analysis to manage enterprise cost and profitability, and Predictive Planning, a business driver-based forecasting and budgeting tool that provides the convenience of single-click re-forecasting to quickly respond to market changes.

EPO is a Web-based platform that provides a common user interface and operates on a single database throughout the enterprise. By capturing and consolidating information in the same data repository, it can be easily updated and shared, providing executives and managers with an always-current snapshot of business health for better cost management and planning. EPO also allows users to drill down to specific details and perform enterprise capacity and resource planning.

"Managers are using web technologies, including planning, forecasting and activity-based management applications, to gain a more complete picture of their organization," said Mike Sherratt, founder and CEO of ALG Software. "Spreadsheets and historical costing methods no longer provide the depth of analysis that ABM and predictive planning tools can. Using a suite of applications, organizations are able to gain a full insight into the cost of their activities and help to plan more effectively going forward."

Since 1996, Gartner's Hype Cycle reports have tracked the progress and adoption of new technologies, from hype to subsequent disappointment to eventually reaching a "plateau of productivity." This Hype Cycle helps managers make distinctions between established, core technologies and emerging trends. According to the 2005 CPM report, "The interest in each of the component parts of CPM continues to increase, supported by greater vendor activity and continued pressure of compliance and governance."
