AlgoSec Streamlines Connectivity Management for Data Center Migrations

New Version of the AlgoSec Security Management Suite Delivers Unprecedented Visualization of Application Connectivity Across the Data Center

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Dec 9, 2014) -  AlgoSec, the market leader for Security Policy Management, today announced the latest version of the AlgoSec Security Management Suite. Version 6.7 simplifies and streamlines end-to-end security policy management for large-scale server migration and decommissioning projects, while ensuring service delivery and business continuity. The new release also includes support for additional network infrastructure, and includes new features that focus on visualization and automation, enterprise readiness, compliance and risk management.

The AlgoSec suite delivers a complete, integrated solution for managing complex network security policies -- from the business application layer to the network infrastructure. With powerful visibility across virtual, cloud and physical environments, the AlgoSec suite automates the entire security change management process to accelerate application delivery while ensuring security and compliance.

In the 'Data Center Migrations -- Five Steps to Success' research note, Gartner Analyst David Cappuccio commented, "One of the most important phases, risk assessment is often called the "discovery phase," and it entails a detailed evaluation or audit of exactly what needs to be moved, when and how. This phase takes a detailed look at applications, network requirements, and most importantly, dependencies between applications and the cascade effects on application delivery and business impact if an application fails to migrate correctly."1

Key new features in the AlgoSec Security Management Suite version 6.7 enable users to:

  • Simplify Large-Scale Server Migration Projects: AlgoSec simplifies the end-to-end management of the security policy throughout complex migration or decommissioning projects involving tens or even hundreds of servers. Through AlgoSec's built-in workflows, the user simply selects the servers to be migrated, and AlgoSec then automatically identifies all the applications that are affected by the planned migration. AlgoSec then generates the necessary change requests to the underlying network traffic flows, all while ensuring the integrity of the security policy and network access.

  • Visualize Application Connectivity: The new dynamic, graphical map provides unprecedented up-to-date visibility of all applications and their connectivity requirements. The map also highlights blocked connections, and color-codes business applications based on their vulnerability scores for easy troubleshooting and risk analysis.

  • Simplify and Automate Connectivity Provisioning for Shared Applications: Users can now create templates that automatically apply the appropriate connectivity flows for shared applications such as Antivirus, backup, DNS etc. to cut management overhead and simplify change management. If changes are subsequently made to a template, such as the addition of a new backup server, they are automatically applied to all associated applications.

  • Ensure Compliance with more Regulations: AlgoSec has added new compliance reports, supplementing to what is already the largest repository of compliance reports in the industry. New reports supported out-of-the-box include the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Internet Banking and Technology Risk Management Guidelines (IBTRM) of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and NERC CIP version 5.0.

  • Support more Network Infrastructure Devices: Adding to its extensive array of network infrastructure devices, AlgoSec provides out-of-the-box support for Avaya Layer 3 switches, Brocade VDX switches, Hillstone Networks firewalls, Dell SonicWALL firewalls, as well as Amazon Web Services' Security Groups and VMware NSX logical firewalls.

"Corporate data centers are continuously evolving, requiring companies to be agile enough to deploy, migrate or change business applications at breakneck speed, yet maintain a strong security posture and compliance," said Avishai Wool, CTO, AlgoSec. "With the latest release of the AlgoSec Security Management Suite we're providing organizations with the visibility and automation they need to manage large scale data center migration projects, and application connectivity provisioning across the entire network estate -- quickly, easily and securely."

The AlgoSec Security Management Suite version 6.7 is generally available, with pricing starting at $10,000.
