All-Year Touring Special, With Safeguard Insurance

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Jan. 17, 2011) - The last few years have seen a resurgence in caravanning, as holidaymakers re-discovered the joys of the great British holiday.

Safeguard one of the UK's leading insurance providers can reveal that 2011 is set to continue this staycation trend, as a survey conducted by Safeguard reveals campsites have already seen bookings up 5% on last year. The online survey of 1200 customers completed by the caravan insurance provider discovered that caravanners are looking to holiday in the UK again this year, as 15% now prefer to shun the queues at the airports for a great British holiday.

Safeguard UK has compiled an all-year touring calendar of places to look out for in 2011:

January – Possibly the UK's strangest event, the annual Whittlesea Straw Bear Festival takes place between the 14th and 17th of January, following plough Monday. A man dressed as a straw bear, flanked with dancers parades around this village, deep in the Cambridgeshire countryside with great walks and Cambridge itself to visit.

February - Why not visit the Cotswolds, in the heart of Britain – The perfect romantic destination for Valentine's Day, with beautiful walks, castles and gardens to wander through.

March – St Patricks Day on the 17th March, the perfect time to take the ferry over to Ireland to join in the celebrations on the Emerald Isle.

April – With Easter Bank Holiday, York is always a popular destination, with its Cathedral and shops and the North Yorkshire Moors on your doorstep, it caters for every need over the Easter weekend.

May – A trip to Cooper's Hill in Gloucestershire is a must on the 31st May, to see the annual Cheese Rolling event, where participants chase a block of cheese down a near vertical hill.

June – The month of June is all about tennis and in particular Wimbledon, so why not camp near SW17 watch the tennis and with central London a short trip away, pop into the city for some shopping.

July – What better place to be than in the sun, sipping Pimms at the royal regatta in Henley - with campsites and the countryside in Oxfordshire to explore after.

August – This is the month of festivals and there is no better festival than the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the biggest arts festival in the world.

September – Newcastle plays host to the biggest half marathon in the world in September, and is a must for any charitable caravanners and with Northumberland National Park for walks, the North East is a must see area.

October – October is the month of Halloween, and the perfect chance to visit Warwick Castle who organise spooky tours late at night.

November – Bonfire night is November's biggest event and no-one does it better than Nottingham Castle, where thousands gather and watch the firework display.

December – Norwich is the place to visit for Christmas Markets, as the city has no less than nine different themed markets around the city.

Rita Sadler, Head of Safeguard motorhome insurance, said: "It's nice to see so many people continuing to holiday in the UK. When buying a caravan it's always important to find a suitable policy for your caravanning needs."
