AllerGuarder Introduces First Bluetooth-Powered, Proactive Allergy Awareness Wristband Defense System to Keep Allergy Children Safe

New Wristband and App Defense System Takes Food Allergy Protection to a New Level

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 19, 2016) - AllerGuarder, a company founded by dedicated parents and technologists distressed by their children's food allergies, announces the first Bluetooth-powered wristband and app defense system that sends alerts about a child's dangerous food allergies. Anyone who has downloaded the free app and comes in contact with the child will receive an alert reminding them to be vigilant and aware.

The child's identity is fully protected from strangers but all others who have been given special Trusted Friend status -- relatives, friends, school staff etc. -- will also receive detailed personal and medical information.

The AllerGuarder wristband and app defense system warns those who have downloaded the free app, available on iOS and Android, that an allergic person is within close proximity. These alerts dramatically reduce the risk of accidental exposure to food allergens and provide peace of mind for families everywhere.

AllerGuarder's Bluetooth transmitter broadcasts the alert to all AllerGuarder app-enabled smartphones and tablets within an approximate 50-foot radius, creating a virtual safe zone. Those within this safe zone can view non-specific information about the allergic person. Parents can also customize the amount of their child's information that is viewable to designated Trusted Friends who have downloaded the app. For example, a stranger's view can be limited to an alert that an unidentified allergic person is nearby, the type of allergies and whether the allergies are triggered by ingestion, touch, or airborne. Those designated as Trusted Friends can view more information, such as a child's name and emergency contact information. Additionally, AllerGuarder provides a pre-programmed message that parents can easily forward to encourage family members, friends, teachers, coaches, etc. to download the free AllerGuarder app.

"With two children who have life-threatening peanut and tree nut allergies, I know first-hand the fear parents feel every time their child goes to a birthday party, an ice cream shop or on a play date," said Avram Weissman, CEO of AllerGuarder. "Often times, those closest to the child innocently give him or her dangerous foods simply because they forget. We hope AllerGuarder helps people avoid these accidents and feel safe when caring for children who have severe allergies. We created AllerGuarder to provide families an effective allergy warning system."

AllerGuarder is available for pre-order for $30 on Kickstarter.
