Allergy Alert/CFIA: Undeclared Hazelnut in Certain Evald Collection Sauce Marinade

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 15, 2011) - Audio clips available at

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and East-West Foods Distribution Inc. are warning people with allergies to hazelnuts not to consume the Evald Collection Sauce Marinade described below. The affected product contains hazelnut which is not declared on the label.

The affected product, Evald Collection Sauce Marinade, 310 g, imported from Latvia, bears UPC 4 750225 206447 and lot code APR.01.11 L 02202. 

This product is known to have been distributed in Ontario, but may have been distributed nationally.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to hazelnut.

The importer, East-West Foods Distribution Inc., Concord, ON is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
