PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - September 20, 2016) - The Alliance for RIAs (aRIA) announced today the addition of its first new member since inception, Jack Petersen, Managing Partner of Summit Trail Advisors. aRIA extended an invitation to Jack due to his diverse background in financial services and successful breakaway launching Summit Trail Advisors on a national scale.
"We are very pleased to welcome a new member with the skills and resources that Jack brings to aRIA and we look forward to leveraging his experience and background in the wealth management space on how to run a large, scalable organization," said John Furey, principal at Advisor Growth Strategies, LLC and Managing Member of aRIA. "Jack and his partners have built an incredibly knowledgeable and successful team launching Summit Trail Advisors, and we look forward to his insights as aRIA continues to provide best practices for independent advisors to help them realize the true value of their business."
Pulling from 23 years of experience and a successful track record at leading institutions, Jack applies his expertise to Summit Trail Advisors with a strong management team, disciplined investment philosophy, boutique culture, and built for scale infrastructure to deliver a superior client experience. Prior to founding Summit Trail, he was the Head of Wealth Management for Barclays Wealth - Americas. Jack joined Barclays in September 2008 as part of the acquisition by Barclays of Lehman Brothers Private Investment Management, a negotiation in which he played a critical role. He was Lehman Brothers Global Head of Private Investment Management at the time, having risen to that post after joining Lehman Brothers in 2003, and holding the titles of National Sales Manager and U.S. Head of Private Investment Management. From 1993 to 2003, he was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley where he got his first taste of wealth management.
With the help of Dynasty Financial Partners, Jack and his five co-founders broke away from Barclays and simultaneously opened offices in New York City, Chicago, and San Francisco last July. Summit Trail Advisors was born out of the desire to better serve clients with the idea of an open-architecture concept that would apply to every financial aspect of a client's life. The firm leverages a six-person research team to identify alpha generating third party managers and then constructs custom allocations tailored to meet each client's individual needs.
"I'm excited to join this think-tank of professionals focused on helping the RIA space," said Jack Petersen, Managing Partner of Summit Trail Advisors. "Summit Trail Advisors began with the goal to better serve clients and aRIA's vision aligns perfectly with our decision to go independent. I look forward to sharing ideas and providing thought leadership to build and strengthen the independent advisor community."
