Allied Nevada's Underwriters Exercise Over-Allotment Option

RENO, NEVADA--(Marketwire - April 18, 2008) - Allied Nevada Gold Corp. (TSX:ANV) (AMEX:ANV) ("Allied Nevada") announced today that the underwriters in its recently completed cross-border public offering have exercised their over-allotment option to acquire an additional 1,875,000 common shares at the offering price of $5.25 per share for additional aggregate proceeds of up to Cdn.$9,843,750.

Allied Nevada expects to utilize net proceeds from the public offering and the over-allotment option primarily to fund activities in connection with its proposed reactivation of the Hycroft Brimstone Open Pit Mine, oxide and sulfide exploration activities on the Hycroft property, as well as additional working capital and reclamation bonding in connection with the reactivation program.

Cormark Securities Inc. and GMP Securities L.P. were co-lead underwriters of a syndicate of underwriters that included Genuity Capital Markets, National Bank Financial Inc. and Dundee Securities Corporation.
