BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - February 24, 2011) - AlliedBarton Security Services, www.alliedbarton.com/boston, the industry's premier provider of highly trained security personnel, in partnership with the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) and the Boston and Cambridge Police Departments, will host a workplace violence and active shooter prevention seminar from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center at 415 Summer Street in Boston, MA. 

"Workplace violence has become more common across the country and can take many forms from a disgruntled employee, to domestic situations, to acts of terrorism," stated Lieutenant Rick Riley, Cambridge Police Training & Certification Unit. "The Police Departments in Cambridge and Boston and across the region work closely together to share information, intelligence and tactics to prevent violence in the workplace and to respond effectively when incidents do occur. Private security, the business community, and the general public are important partners in preventing and responding to these threats."

Each day, two people are killed due to workplace violence and 87 people are injured, on average, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
