AlliedBarton Security Services, HR Plus and the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals Present Free Workplace Violence Seminar in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - May 13, 2011) - AlliedBarton Security Services, the industry's premier provider of highly trained security personnel, and HR Plus, a leading provider of comprehensive solutions for employment and background screening, in partnership with the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, will host a seminar titled An Organizational Approach to Workplace Violence. The seminar will be held from 7 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the Sheraton La Jolla Hotel - Wind & Sea Ballroom at 3299 Holiday Court in La Jolla, CA.

According to the National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence, in 2009 about one out of 5.5 fatalities at work were caused by assaults and violent acts, making it the third leading cause of death for people while working. "Awareness, training and planning are three steps organizations can take to protect their most valuable assets -- their employees," explained Wayne Maxey, Commander (Retired) of the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.

Dr. Steve Albrecht, PHR, CPP, San Diego Chapter President, Association of Threat Assessment Professionals stated, "Attacks to our workplaces, schools, and our country are always changing. The behaviors, tactics, and approaches of potentially violent subjects demands our full attention. The seminar will address the need to maintain an organizational and personal preparedness. Discussion and seminar topics include gathering cross-functional organizational support; recognizing and responding to problem behaviors; policies, procedures and organizational awareness; practical preparedness; responding to and surviving an active shooter situation; and engaging community resources.
