ALLO.COM VOIP Hardware Chooses Octasic's Vocallo MGW

Most Versatile DSP Platform Provides Complete Hardware/Software Package for Voice and Video Transcoding

MONTREAL and BANGALORE, INDIA--(Marketwire - May 1, 2012) - Octasic Inc., a leading innovator of media processing and wireless solutions, today announced that its Vocallo MGW multi-core processor has been chosen by ALLO.COM, a leading global provider of telephony hardware and software products. ALLO.COM has integrated Octasic's Vocallo MGW into two product lines, including its CP400 series of PRI PCI/PCIe Cards for Asterisk and its CT200 series of transcoding cards for Asterisk.

ALLO's CP400 series of PRI PCI/PCIe cards for Asterisk uses Vocallo MGW for 120-channel echo cancellation, while its CT200 series of transcoding cards for Asterisk uses Vocallo MGW for media transcoding from any codec to any codec.

"Having the flexibility to upgrade or expand is extremely important to our customers as they look to maximize their existing technology investments," said Andre Strul, Chief Marketing Officer at ALLO.COM. "We've found Vocallo MGW to be the most versatile DSP platform for voice and future video over IP applications and because Octasic delivers a complete hardware and software solution in one, we've managed to reduce our overall system development costs. Their complete solution includes support for a wide range of wideband codecs."

ALLO.COM has equipped its PBX and PCI/PCIe card product lines with Octasic's Vocallo MGW multi-core processor to offer its customers cost-effective video transcoding and conferencing solutions across all popular codecs including H.263, MPEG-4, and H.264. Based on Octasic's ultra-low power Opus DSP core architecture, Vocallo MGW can transcode more than 400 channels from G.711 to G.729AB on a single DSP, while consuming less than 2 watts of power, delivering the highest capacity solution for audio transcoding in the IP domain.

"ALLO.COM delivers cost-effective solutions for the Asterisk space," said Fabio Gambacorta, VP Sales and Business Development at Octasic. "Having the ability to transcode more channels on a single DSP and support a wide range of audio codecs means that they can deliver an all-in-one solution that doesn't put a load on the host CPU."
