Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women National Committee Canada was presented with a Women's Advancement Forum's 2013 MDG Meritorious Award by Governor's wife, Her Excellency Olufunso Amosun,in Johannesburg. The award is sponsored by DuPont and is presented for contribution to realization of Millennium Development Goals.
The Women Advancement Forum is held from April 28 - May 3, 2013 to connect women leaders and provide an environment for networking and capacity building. Participants have the opportunity to discuss the economic status of women, advancement in the position of women and steps that need to be undertaken to further promote women's empowerment in business, politics and society.
This year's forum is dedicated to the actualization of the UN's 2015 Millennium Development Goals (MDG's) and over five hundred women from six continents are participating in the event.
