The Alouettes Once Again Involved in the Wilson Challenge-Alouette Players Will Serve as Honourary Captains

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - July 6, 2005) - The Montreal Alouettes will once again be actively involved in the Wilson Challenge, a tournament between the province's top minor football teams, with several Alouette players taking active roles in the activities surrounding the event.

Now in its ninth year, Football Quebec's Wilson Challenge is a summer football tournament which is part of the federation's Program of Excellence aimed at select teams and leagues from Quebec and Ontario. The province's future gridiron stars, ages 12 to 16, will all be there this July 9 to 17.

Many Alouette players starred in the Quebec amateur football system prior to their professional careers. Patrick Dorvelus, Paul Lambert, Sylvain Girard, Eric Lapointe, Matthieu Proulx and Phillip Gauthier are some of the players who have made their way onto the Alouettes' roster after playing minor football in the province. Participating as honourary captains at this year's Wilson Challenge are Anwar Stewart, Rob Brown, Paul Lambert, Phillip Gauthier, Damon Duval and Sylvain Girard. Each will represent a specific region, attending several Challenge games at Percival Molson Stadium and at the CEPSUM.

Taking a leadership role in the community, the Montreal Alouettes' organization continues its commitment with a consistent contribution to the development of amateur football in Quebec.
