Altegra Health Certified by CMS for Processing DME Encounter Data

MIAMI LAKES, FL--(Marketwire - Aug 29, 2012) - Altegra Health, Inc., a leading provider of technology-enabled revenue management services to healthcare organizations, today announced that it is among the first entities to receive certification from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the processing of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) encounter data.

Altegra earned the certification by achieving a 100 percent acceptance rate during official testing on the CMS Encounter Data Processing System (EDPS). The certification provides CMS approval for Altegra to begin submitting DME data as an authorized third-party submitter for clients that have completed the EDS (Encounter Data System) implementation.

Altegra previously received Professional Encounter Data End-to-End Certification in April 2012 and Institutional Encounter Data Certification in July 2012.

"We're proud to be among the first to receive DME certification, which serves as further validation of Altegra Health's expertise in revenue management, analytics and reporting," said Kevin Barrett, Altegra Health President and CEO. "Our health plan clients rely on us to provide them with CMS-compliant support for all encounter data submissions, and the DME certification extends those capabilities."

CMS utilizes the DME and other submitted encounter data for a variety of purposes including determining the risk adjustment factors used to alter Medicare Advantage plan payments, updating associated risk adjustment models, and monitoring utilization and cost trends.

Altegra's encounter reporting services provide health plans with a turn-key solution to effectively transition to EDPS while ensuring continuity of their data and payments. In addition to meeting requirements to transform data into an encounter for submission to CMS, Altegra provides a single source platform for error review and management, claims reporting, statistical analysis, and financial reporting.
