Alternate Scenarios Headline New Estimating Features in InEight HD Version 15

SCOTTSDALE, AZ --(Marketwired - March 08, 2016) - InEight Inc., a leading provider of software solutions for project-driven companies, is pleased to announce general availability of version 15 of its HD cost estimating and control solution. HD 15 features dozens of customer-requested enhancements, including alternate scenarios, scope sheets, user interface improvements and integration enhancements.

The need to effectively manage alternate scenarios during the estimating and bidding stage is on the rise as owners increasingly look for ways to stretch budget dollars. In addition, as alternate delivery methods such as Design-Build and Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) become more prevalent, contractors must become involved earlier in the design process to adequately assess the various approaches that could be taken with a job. With HD 15, estimators can easily evaluate and compare pricing for different base-plus-alternate scope combinations with just a few mouse clicks. The ease and speed of the system means owners and contractors can now even explore pricing of different "what if?" scenarios on the fly.

The new alternate scenarios feature can also be used to explore different approaches to work, such as mainline paving with concrete (more expensive material with less base material) versus asphalt (may be less expensive but requires more base). In HD 15, users can simply toggle between scenarios to activate or de-activate all the corresponding estimate items. Going one step further, estimators can use the new functionality to toggle between different risk profiles or even different quantity or productivity assumptions.

"The majority of the work we bid is for government agencies," said Rusty Crane, chief estimator at Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. "Owners routinely provide us with bid documents with an increasing number of options, which means that with more combinations of ways in which we can approach work, the more time it takes to process and evaluate all possible scenarios to find the one that is most cost efficient. With HD 15, I can get most of that time back while also reducing the risk of error."

Other highlighted features in HD 15 include:

  • Scope Sheets -- Estimators can now create more realistic comparisons between subcontractor bids by identifying and quantifying inclusions and exclusions
  • User Interface Improvements -- Using HD is easier than ever, with new support for higher-resolution devices, a new fill down feature, multi-select on filter drop downs, color-coded indicators and more
  • Enhanced Integrations -- Compatibility has been updated to include new versions of Primavera P6, Microsoft Excel, SQL Server, Windows, RS Means and more

HD 15 continues InEight's rapid innovation of the HD solution suite, which has averaged one major release every eight months since 2012. In addition, the company recently released new HD modules, including the HD Field jobsite mobility solution and the HD Reporting cross-portfolio project intelligence platform. InEight is also expanding the InfinyD visual BIM platform.

"HD 15 exemplifies how InEight creates and enhances software based on customer feedback," said Aaron Cohen, product manager at InEight. "This release finally solves the industry challenge that contractors face in trying to manage bid proposals that involve complex options and scope combinations."
