Alternative Fuel Technologies CEO Has Accepted Invitation to Speak as a "Key Expert" in Washington, DC

REDFORD, MI--(Marketwire - June 17, 2009) - Alternative Fuel Technologies Inc. (PINKSHEETS: AFTC) -- CEO McCandless is enthusiastic about the upcoming "Military Energy and Fuels Conference." "Having the opportunity this October to address the US Military's needs and provide solutions to their prime imperative, National Energy Security, I believe our company and this country are truly moving in the correct direction."

Alternative Fuel Technologies, Inc (AFTC) is a company engaged in the development and manufacturing of advanced fuel systems for use with a new alternative fuel -- dimethyl ether (DME). DME is a "green" or "pollution free" diesel fuel replacement that can be manufactured at low cost from abundant resources, including stranded natural gas, coal and biomass. Biomass, a renewable energy source, is created by converting living and recently dead biological material, plants, dead trees, and the like into useable fuel. The United States Military's ability to transform abundant resources to fuel our Military Vehicles would have a resounding impact on our country as a whole.

CEO McCandless stated, "The adoption of DME and our Fuel Injection Systems on the Military Level would offer the private sector the satisfactory evidence that DME is a legitimate fuel. McCandless further stated, "It is the company's ultimate goal to achieve series production of DME fuel systems for the global automotive market by 2011."

About Dimethyl Ether or DME

DME is a new ultra-clean diesel fuel replacement that can be produced from abundant resources. These include natural gas, landfill methane, coal and biomass. At current oil prices, DME can be produced and distributed at less than 1/2 the cost of conventional fuel. When burned in a diesel engine, all soot emissions are eliminated and NO emissions are lowered dramatically without the use of expensive exhaust after treatment devices.
