Alternative Technology Signs Distributor Agreement with IGEL Technology

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(CCNMatthews - Jan 30, 2006) -

Agreement Extends Alternative Technology's Offering in the Growing Market for Smartcard Security in Thin Client and Server-Based Computing Environments

Alternative Technology, the leading specialty distributor of security and access infrastructure solutions, announced at Citrix summit06 that it has signed a value-added distribution agreement with IGEL Technology, Inc., a leading supplier of Linux and Windows-based thin client solutions. Under the agreement, Alternative Technology will distribute IGEL's industry-leading thin client solutions to its network of resellers in the USA and Canada.

IGEL extends Alternative Technology's current portfolio of access infrastructure and thin client products by adding IGEL devices with integrated Smartcard readers to protect customer data against unauthorized access, spyware, worms, and Trojans.

"Alternative Technology is partnering with IGEL because of its technical and market leadership in an area that bridges our thin client and security lines with a Smartcard solution that runs on Linux and Windows platforms," said William R. Botti, president and chief operating officer of Alternative Technology. "It also enables use of the Citrix Smooth Roaming function to share active sessions between workstations by means of the IGEL Smartcard."

"We are selectively building our channel partners to continue our success in 2006," said Matthew Haynes, president of IGEL Technology, Inc. "Alternative Technology has an excellent reputation in the VAR community, particularly with its strong server-based computing and security focus, and its innovative technical services and training programs that will assist VARs in adopting and deploying our technology."

This agreement follows the recent announcement of the formation of IGEL Technology Inc. in the USA, headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, a 500% increase in U.S. business in 2005, and the release of IGEL-5512 XP Premium Clever Client with Windows XP Embedded.
