Alternet Systems Inc.: SchoolWeb Project Approved for Costa Rica

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 15, 2006) - Alternet Systems Inc. (OTCBB:ASYI)(FWB:EJM) announces the approval of a SchoolWeb project for the Republic of Costa Rica. The goal of the project is a country-wide deployment over the next two years in the 3700 primary and secondary schools of Costa Rica. The system will employ a wireless broadband network, coupled with Alternet's Spanish-language SchoolWeb software.

Patrick Fitzsimmons, President of Alternet Systems, Inc., states, "We are excited about providing the citizens of Costa Rica with a leading-edge education solution. We are working with a number of Latin American countries and this project provides a springboard for Alternet's system solutions throughout the region." In addition to education services, Alternet offers residents, businesses and governments a variety of commercial services such as broadband internet, fixed and mobile VoIP telephones, video conferencing and IPTV.

Costa Rica is strategically one of the most dynamic markets in Latin America with a population base of over 4 million, with a large percentage of school children between the age of 5 and 18 who would benefit greatly by having access to Internet-delivered learning material. The market size for SchoolWeb systems in Costa Rica is significant, potentially exceeding $15 million annually. Spanish is the official language in 21 countries worldwide, with a total combined population of over 400 million people.
