Altiscale's robust security capabilities and certifications now include:

PCI DSS Level 1 Report on Compliance (ROC): PCI compliance, which is intended to protect credit card data handled by merchants and banks, requires many security controls that are among the most stringent of any compliance program. As a result, PCI has become a de facto security standard for protecting data within the Financial Services industry and even beyond. Altiscale's PCI compliance provides assurance that all sensitive data will be protected according to the same strict standards required for cardholder data, and allows customers who require PCI compliance as a matter of policy to use the Altiscale Data Cloud.

HIPAA Compliance: Organizations that handle patient medical data are subject to strict legal requirements to protect the confidentiality of that information. Altiscale's compliance with HIPAA standards enables such organizations to store, process, and analyze that data at Altiscale. Additionally, Altiscale is now able to sign Business Associate Agreements (BAA) with customers subject to HIPAA and HITECH requirements.

SOC 2 Compliance: Version two of the Service Organization Controls standard -- known as SOC 2 -- is a widely respected set of criteria for protecting information published by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). All of Altiscale's services have been certified to meet the AICPA SOC 2 Trust Service Principles criteria for Security and Availability. This certification indicates that Altiscale has undergone an in-depth examination of the controls covering its systems, processes and policies. By undergoing this rigorous examination, Altiscale has demonstrated its dedication to providing a secure, highly available big data service.

Kerberos Authentication: Altiscale's implementation of Kerberos, a strong authentication protocol, automatically provides enterprise-class access controls and protection to every customer. Kerberos is widely recognized as critical to Hadoop security because it helps to ensure that users can access only the data that they are authorized to access and not other potentially sensitive data. Altiscale is the first and only Big-Data-as-a-Service provider to include Kerberos authentication as an integral part of its service offering.

"We deliver these capabilities automatically within our fully-managed, Big-Data-as-a-Service offering, so that customers benefit from state-of-the art security without having to worry about the complexities of the underlying security technology systems and operations."
