Altova Online Training Updates StyleVision Course With New Version 2011 Functionality

Free, On-Demand Online Training Course Highlights New Support for Reporting and Chart Creation, an Integrated Scripting Environment, and Much More

BEVERLY, MA--(Marketwire - December 16, 2010) -   Altova® (, creator of XMLSpy®, the industry leading XML editor, has updated its StyleVision® training course with its newest functionality now available as part of Version 2011. Part of the free Altova Online Training program, the recently updated StyleVision beginner and intermediate courses highlight new support for reporting and chart creation, an integrated scripting environment and tool bar editor, functionality for creating a StyleVision design (.SPS) based on an existing XSLT stylesheet, and much more.

"We have recently updated our StyleVision training course to coincide with the release of the latest product version, enabling our users to come up to speed on the powerful functionality added in v2011 quickly and easily," said Alexander Falk, President and CEO for Altova. "We're excited to be able to provide up-to-the-minute updates to our training, which we've been working to improve since its re-launch in 2008. In response to valuable customer feedback and suggestions, we've added interactive modules that included guided instructions, video-enhanced tutorials, quizzes, and resources for further study to help users working with XML, databases, XBRL, and more. And best of all, Altova Online Training courses remain free and available on-demand to adapt to users' busy schedules."

The updated StyleVision course covers a comprehensive collection of topics to help guide users through the functionality available in the visual stylesheet and reporting design tool. The beginner and intermediate level StyleVision modules start with an introduction to the StyleVision interface and functionality as well as interactive tutorials for transforming XML and database content into HTML, RTF, PDF, Word 2007 (OOXML), and Authentic® eForms. Module 2 adds detailed tutorials to help users create an effective SPS template, design print output, use absolutely positioned layout modules, and create Authentic eForms for users who need to update XML documents without seeing the underlying XML syntax. Module 3 introduces more advanced topics and includes step-by-step instructions on inserting auto-calculations, outputting XHTML, importing XSLT, disabling output escaping, setting DPI conversion factors, and using variables and user-defined templates and elements. The last chapter walks through StyleVision's scripting capabilities and allows users to practice inserting macros, adding custom toolbar buttons and event handlers, and adding forms to their design.

The recently updated StyleVision course is complemented by the other product and technology courses available as part of the Altova Online Training program, which also provides instruction on XMLSpy and MapForce®, Altova's data mapping tool. There is also a comprehensive, five-module course for users working with XBRL that includes an introduction to XBRL technology and concepts, as well as an overview of working with XBRL using the Altova MissionKit® tool suite.

All Altova training modules are delivered through the Amazon® S3 cloud service. They are available for free and can be accessed on-demand, with no registration required.
