AltspaceVR Announces Social VR Support for HTC Vive

AltspaceVR Strengthens Roster of Supported VR Hardware, Now Including Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR and HTC Vive

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 15, 2015) - AltspaceVR, a software company using virtual reality to provide a new communication platform, today announced its support of HTC Vive, a virtual reality (VR) head mounted display being developed by HTC and Valve Corporation. Highly regarded in its recent developer and demo reviews, Vive provides an exceptional experience when used in AltspaceVR.

Technical advancements in HTC Vive help AltspaceVR deliver a high quality experience and the most natural communication available online. Its high resolution and performance delivers excellent visual clarity and quick response time. Its wireless controllers and larger area of camera coverage allow greater freedom and mobility.

For example, users can easily walk around, lean over a game board, sit down on the ground, or even lie down and look up at the sky. Since movement and gestures are easier, body language can be more expressive. Users feel immersed, resulting in more natural interaction and better interpersonal communication in VR.

"Our team has been working hard to support the new platform, and we're thrilled that consumers around the world will be able to communicate with each other via AltspaceVR upon the launch of Vive," said Eric Romo, CEO at AltspaceVR. "We appreciate that developers are also excited about Vive's advanced capabilities and its integration with Steam, the largest digital distribution platform for PC gaming."

Currently, AltspaceVR supports the HTC Vive Innovator Edition. A limited number of models for consumers are expected later this year with greater availability in early 2016.

Now available on Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR and the HTC Vive, AltspaceVR is enabling its global user base to be together in VR for gaming, streaming content through popular platforms such as Netflix and Twitch, sporting and eSports tournaments, and business collaboration.
