Alvin and Heidi Toffler Receive Award for "Global Vision" From President of Colombia

MANCHESTER, MA--(Marketwire - September 9, 2008) - Alvin and Heidi Toffler, the renowned authors whose lifelong study of change and its impact on society and business has made them the world's most recognized and influential "futurists," were honored on September 2 in Bogotá with the Colombian Society of Economists' prestigious "Global Vision Award."

The award was presented to the Tofflers personally by Colombia's President, Álvaro Uribe Vélez, at the Tenth Congress of Economists of the Americas and Caribbean.

The president praised the Tofflers' insightful ideas as the Congress convened to discuss how to "rethink the development of the Americas and the Caribbean in the twenty-first century." In an interview prior to the Congress, Alvin Toffler noted that "Colombia has an opportunity to transform itself if it recognizes the patterns of change" that he and his wife Heidi have foreseen and described in their work.

President Uribe also met privately with the Tofflers after the Congress to discuss some of the critical issues facing Colombia as it transitions to an economy increasingly driven by information technology and knowledge.

Alvin and Heidi Toffler's most recent book, the 2006 bestseller "Revolutionary Wealth," is about how tomorrow's wealth will be created, who will create it, and how. In "Revolutionary Wealth" and all their work, they have given millions of readers new ways to think about the rapidly changing global economy and society.
