A.M. Best Affirms Rating of BCAA Insurance Corporation

OLDWICK, N.J.--(CCNMatthews - Sep 21, 2005) -

A.M. Best Co. has affirmed the financial strength rating of B++ (Very Good) of BCAA Insurance Corporation (British Columbia). The rating has been assigned a stable outlook. Subsequently, A.M. Best has withdrawn the financial strength rating and has assigned an NR-4 (Company Request). This action has been taken in response to BCAA's request that the company be withdrawn from the interactive rating process.

The initial rating for the company was assigned in 2004 and was based upon excellent capitalization, a strong management team, conservative underwriting practices, sound reinsurance program and the explicit financial support of its parent, the British Columbia Automobile Association. These strengths were partially offset by the company's geographic concentration in British Columbia, a higher than average expense structure and a higher investment risk due to above average investment in equities.
