AMA Houston Bringing Together Local, National Thought Leaders to Spark Creative Solutions for Marketing's Toughest Challenges

MarketingEDGE 2013 Will Address New Approaches for Reaching Sophisticated Customers, Next-Generation Challenges

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - Sep 19, 2013) - The Houston Chapter of the American Marketing Association will present Houston's only full-day, marketing-focused conference for marketing and communications professionals on October 22, 2013 at the Norris Conference Center at CityCentre. The AMA Houston MarketingEDGE 2013 conference will feature headline talent from marketing firms and companies across Texas and the U.S. to address challenges unique to the most demanding environment and customer sophistication in the history of the marketing profession.

"AMA Houston recognizes the changing landscape marketing practitioners are facing and MarketingEDGE 2013 is designed to tackle those issues head-on," said Dominique Shu, AMA Houston president. "MarketingEDGE 2013 will build on the momentum from our inaugural event in 2012 and feature national experts and breakout sessions dealing with the current hot topics keeping marketers and their clients up at night."

The MarketingEDGE 2013 keynote will be given by nationally recognized marketing mind Robbin Phillips, co-author of the best-selling book Brains on Fire: Igniting Powerful, Sustainable Word of Mouth Movements and co-founder of the word of mouth and identity firm Brains on Fire. Based on their latest book released in September, Phillips will speak on "The Passion Conversation: How Brands Make Business Personal and Sustainable." According to Phillips, "The new world of marketing is about relationships. Unfortunately, many marketers don't seem to know exactly what that means. For too long we have been trained to keep our customers at arm's length, regarding them as a demographic, lines on a chart, pieces of a pie. The new world of marketing is much more personal. It's not about technology platforms or social media doodads. It's about real relationships with real people."

"AMA Houston offers a wide array of opportunities to network with marketing thought leaders from Houston, across Texas and around the country," said Shu. "In addition to the opportunity to hear first-hand Robbin Phillip's breakthrough thinking, the day will also bring attendees leading-edge thinking on developing marketing plans, why 'soft skills' matter, how to use storytelling to realize better outcomes, tips to elevate influence, the invaluable benefits of mentorship and the newest developments, strategies and tactics for B2B social media."
