AMACO/Brent Announces New Vice President of Sales

INDIANAPOLIS, IN--(Marketwire - June 23, 2009) - AMACO/Brent proudly announces the appointment of a new Vice President of Sales. As of May 2009, Jeffrey Philpott Sandoe assumed responsibility for sales and distributor relations. Jeff is the grandson of AMACO founder T.O. Philpott. He was named for the grandfather who manufactured and sold the first modeling clay in the United States.

After developing the first modeling clay, AMACO operated Art Deco pottery to learn more about art glazes, equipment and tools required for ceramic creations. Jeff, a former BFA student and Montessori art teacher, states, "I have always played in clay."

Since the 1960s, Jeff played with AMACO clays, chalks, tempera paints and crayons. He then learned how to throw, fire and use pottery glazes to create a finished piece. He recalls Saturday mornings when the Sandoe siblings played hide and seek in the factory and visited live animals in the AMACO zoo.

During his long-term tenure at AMACO, Jeff has worked closely with Bill Berry, David Gamble and George Debikey. Jeff also worked trade shows throughout the United States. Many AMACO/Brent customers already know Jeff as the former Director of Educational Training, Key Accounts Manager and Director of the AMACO/Brent Contemporary Clay Gallery.

When Jeff eagerly assumed his new responsibilities as Vice President of Sales he stated, "I listen to what our distributors are facing in this recession, and what their customers tell them." In June, Jeff leads the "Brent Training Boot Camp," the first of two summer workshops for distributors. The workshops are designed to educate distributors about AMACO/Brent products, repairs and innovative sales support initiatives. The distributors include Aardvark Clay, Atlantic Pottery Supply, Brackers Good Earth Clay, Highwater Clays, Trinity Ceramic Supply, Armadillo Clay and Supplies, and Georgies Ceramic Clay Company.

AMACO/Brent also offers online lessons with detailed instructions to make clay art plates and other clay creations. Educators, artists and hobbyists access these lessons to develop their own unique art. Lessons include a list of supplies with step-by-step instructions. AMACO/Brent is constantly educating their distributors and customers on how to make the most of their art supplies. The AMACO Technical Services Department also ensures all art formulations are in compliance with ACMI (The Art and Creative Materials Institute) and governmental safety standards.
