Amanda Eliasch Brings Provocative Play "As I Like It" to Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 6, 2011) - Amanda Eliasch will be unveiling her artistic skills this winter, as her hit play "As I Like It" comes to Hollywood for its highly anticipated West Coast reveal. The 75-minute drama, which debuted at the Chelsea Theater in London, provides a provocative and alluring narrative exploring the eclectic life and lost loves of the talented artist, fashionista and playwright, Amanda Eliasch. The play will run at the Macha Theatre in West Hollywood from December 29, 2011 to January 16, 2012.

The candid, yet deeply personal memoir weaves in and out of the truth to mesmerize audiences, leaving a raw and honest depiction of the British art sensation's life as she sees it. Drawing inspiration from her childhood, Amanda gushes that "It is a true portrayal of my life as I saw it then. Sometimes, when I read it now I either feel nothing, or I start crying. It was an experiment, better than any shrink."

Amanda Eliasch welcomes the audience to embark on her journey of self-discovery through shockingly controversial monologues and a series of opera performances. Actress and Producer Elizabeth Karr has been cast to play The Woman. Joining her on stage is Amanda's son, Charles Eliasch, as The Devotee, as well as Lisa Zane as the Opera Singer. Contributing to the artistic production is Director John Alan Jones and Production Designer Trip Haenisch.

Amanda wrote "As I Like It" when her father, journalist Anthony Cave Brown, challenged her to write 5000 words in a weekend. Although the beginnings of the play were set in motion ten years ago, Amanda revisited the piece last year in a collaborative effort with Lyall Watson, her former drama teacher at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art), bringing the play to its final stages.

"As I Like It" will run from December 29, 2011 through January 15, 2012 at the Macha Theatre, 1107 N. Kings Road, West Hollywood, CA on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 PM and Sunday at 7:00PM.
