Amanta Resources Ltd. Signs Drilling Contract

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 17, 2006) - Amanta Resources Ltd. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:AMH) is pleased to announce that it has signed a drilling contract with Aztec Engineering Co., Ltd. of Lampang, Thailand. The contract is for the drilling of up to 10,000 meters of cored holes with an Italian made multipurpose MAIT GEA 500 rig with a capacity of 500 meters HQ.

Due to heavy regional demand for rigs, the Company has experienced some delays in commencing the drill programs on the Langu gold exploration property in the south of Thailand and the Doi Ngom tungsten area in the north of the country. However, these delays have allowed the Company to fully complete its Phase 2 geological and geophysical field programs at Langu, so the contract now signed combines the drill programs for both properties.

Approximately 5000 meters of cored holes will be drilled on each of the properties, with the first hole on the Doi Ngom tungsten project expected to commence in the week of August 21, 2006.

Amanta Resources Ltd. is focused on mineral exploration, development and production in Thailand and the Southeast Asian region. The Company concentrates on the systematic evaluation of known mineral occurrences, rather than "greenfields" exploration, creating early opportunities to finance and develop mines.
