AMAX Bolsters OEM Platform With Versatile Range of Security Solutions Based on the Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1200 Family

New Appliances Developed for Security Software Vendors Battling Against Data Breaches and Security Attacks

FREMONT, CA--(Marketwire - April 5, 2011) - AMAX, a leading provider of OEM appliance manufacturing and computing solutions, today announced the AMAX AX-1105, AX-1106 and AX-1107 1U uniprocessor OEM appliance solutions based on the revolutionary 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Processor family. The new turnkey servers target security software vendors seeking increased performance and power efficiency to battle the latest invasion of data breaches and security attacks. According to the 2010 Ponemon Institute study on the cost of data breaches, the average total cost per reporting company in the study was $7.2 million per breach, which is prompting organizations to re-evaluate their approach to protecting themselves and their customers.

The latest attacks prompted AMAX to design a versatile range of OEM appliances, optimized for the Intel® Xeon® processor E3-1200 family, for security software vendors to quickly respond with total appliance solutions that could be quickly deployed to their customer sites worldwide. The new AMAX x86-based server appliances deliver value and energy efficiency, as low as 20W, with intelligent performance on demand with up to 30 percent more power than the previous generation of AMAX appliances. The new platforms incorporate an advanced encryption standard, which are instructions to accelerate data encryption and decryption, making it easier to access secure data quickly. Additional features include 20 PCIe 2.0 lanes and four controllers for maximum throughput and direct cache access memory to improve the network I/O speed. The appliance solutions are customizable for each security software vendor's application and designed to suit exact project requirements, from performance and budget, to unique bezels and custom branding options to achieve the desired product identity. With the ultimate ease of deployment in mind, all systems are shipped fully assembled and ready for plug and play.

"The Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 family offers performance, energy efficiency, and security capabilities that will be an essential part of AMAX's solid OEM solution platforms," said Boyd Davis, VP and GM of Intel's Data Center Group Marketing. "As a 2011 Intel Technology Provider Platinum partner, AMAX's strong and well-balanced portfolio of total turnkey appliances gives ISVs a competitive market edge as well as a dynamic source of additional revenue."

"AMAX's engineering expertise and OEM support services offer software technology providers like McAfee, Solera Networks and ActivIdentity a more complete solution for application development and scalable deployment," said Winston Tang, New Product Development Manager at AMAX. "When coupled with the new range of AMAX turnkey solutions, utilizing the latest Intel Xeon processor E3 Series family, ISVs are ensured that their solutions are fully supported, ready to deploy, and simple to maintain in any customer environment."
