AMAX Launches Next-Generation StorMax IO Accelerator Appliances

New Flash Storage Platform for High Performance Computing and Enterprise Applications Requiring High Transaction Rates and Real-Time Data Access

FREMONT, CA--(Marketwire - February 14, 2011) - AMAX, a leading provider of innovative HPC and Enterprise solutions, today announced its launching of the next-generation StorMax IO Accelerator Series storage solutions. These new systems are ideal for IT markets and applications requiring high transaction rates and real-time data access that will benefit from application performance enhancement. With the addition of this PCI Express flash-based offering, AMAX customers gain the flexibility to optimize infrastructure and accelerate applications in a variety of architectures suitable to their needs.

The StorMax IO Accelerator Series commands control over more than 1,000,000 IOPS and up to 10TB SLC flash storage, bringing high random I/O performance and low latency access to storage with the reliability of solid state technology and its low power and cooling requirements. The new Series delivers the highest IOPS and bandwidth performance per server for the price and is ideal for boosting existing network attached storage infrastructures. By incorporating PCIe flash memory, the new StorMax IO Accelerators deliver compelling enterprise storage solutions that enable customers both drastically increased performance and improved reliability, an attractive combination for any user. The StorMax IO Accelerator Series is optimized specifically for high performance computing and enterprise applications requiring high transaction rates and real-time data access, including financial trading and services, content-on-demand delivery, weather forecasting, online game hosting, and eCommerce.

The latest StorMax Series include:

  • StorMax SI-1501: The StorMax SI-1501 1U high performance storage IO accelerator solution is based on a new NAND flash-based Solid State Storage technology with dual PCIe cards and dual InfiniBand or fiber channel network connections. The SI-1501 is ideal for parallel file system storage clusters.
  • StorMax SI-3501: The StorMax SI-3501 3U IO accelerator is a high IOPS enterprise flash storage solution that features sustained I/O rates up to 1,000,000 IOPS, read/write latency of 250 microseconds, 10GB/s maximum bandwidth, and onboard RAID protection. The SI-3501 is ideal for financial and enterprise database applications requiring extreme I/O throughput.
  • StorMax SI-4501: The StorMax SI-4501 4U NAS IO accelerator solution features storage density up to 192TB with optional InfiniBand QDR network connection. The SI-4501 is ideal for boosting existing network attached storage infrastructures.
  • StorMax SI-4502: The StorMax SI-4502 NAS high-density storage solution featuring dual 10GbE, solid state drives, storage density up to 72TB, and caching software to accelerate the I/O with a RAID controller. The SI-4502 provides significant performance improvement of up to 50x for read-intensive applications such as web, file, SQL, and other high transactional server applications.
