FREMONT, CA--(Marketwired - May 6, 2013) - AMAX, a leading innovator of High Performance Computing (HPC), dynamic Data Center, and custom x86-based Appliance Manufacturing solutions, today announced its membership & status as Official Solutions Provider of the Open Compute Project (OCP) and will be leveraging its manufacturing and integration capabilities to deploy large-scale efficiency-oriented datacenter solutions with OCP technology. The Open Compute Project is a rapidly growing community whose mission is to enable the development and delivery of the most efficient server, storage and data center hardware designs for scalable computing.
As a member and official solutions provider of OCP, AMAX will combine OCP designs with unique customization and testing capabilities to deliver a new range of server solutions that are "precision-fit" to the technical and business requirements of individual large data centers. AMAX's OCP solutions will leverage the latest Open Compute design concepts to improve server and storage cost effectiveness, ease of maintenance and energy efficiency for volume data center customers.
"OCP data centers are among the most efficient, scalable data centers in the world and have been designed from the ground up through open collaboration," said Matt Thauberger, Director of Sales at AMAX. "As part of AMAX's vision, we continue to support open-architecture industry standards that are crucial for high performance, energy efficient, low cost, scalable compute clusters while adding our capabilities in global logistics, custom manufacturing and testing processes, and supply chain management to give customers a one stop shop for what can be a complex design and deployment. With our recent wins in the Big Data space with our award-winning PHAT Data cluster line, OCP is a natural complementation of our capabilities and we're excited about our involvement with the OCP Foundation."
"The Open Compute Project Foundation's goal is to build the most efficient computing infrastructure through open design standards," said Mike Yang, general manager and vice president of Quanta QCT. "Together with AMAX, we will provide access to OCP compliant solutions to a broader range of customer and bring a new level of efficiency to data centers around the globe -- large or small."
