AMC Health Expands Management Team With Top Industry Experts

Innovation and Growth Focus of Expanded Leadership

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 29, 2013) - AMC Health, a leading provider of end-to-end telehealth solutions, today announced that four highly respected industry experts have joined the company's management team in newly created positions. The addition of these knowledgeable, talented individuals with strong industry ties will enable AMC Health to respond quickly to surging demand for its telehealth solutions, which will accelerate the company's growth. They will also leverage their extensive expertise to help drive the continuous innovation that has established AMC Health as an industry leader. 

The new AMC Health team members include:

  • Hon S. Pak, MD, FAAD, Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) Consultant, is helping to lead the expansion of AMC Health's government sector market share and will oversee the continuous upgrading of AMC Health's innovative solutions and analytics capabilities that help providers succeed and gain a competitive advantage in the emerging value-based healthcare delivery system.

  • J. Mark McConnell, Senior Vice President (SVP) Sales, Account Management and Marketing, is responsible for market strategy, business development and sales to expand the company's ability to provide the most advanced technology and services along with the highest level of customer service.

  • Joanne Russell, RN, Vice President, Clinical Operations, is leading the team of clinicians that delivers telecare management services, a key differentiator for AMC Health, to patients participating in different remote patient monitoring programs.

  • Frank Tucker, DHSc, Chief Information Officer (CIO) Consultant, will serve as a key contributor in formulating strategic goals and as the senior executive responsible for developing enterprise information management and information technology that will amplify the ability of AMC Health's telehealth technology and services to promote greater efficiency, effectiveness and innovation.

CMIO Consultant, Hon S. Pak, MD, FAAD, brings 25 years of broad-based telehealth, mobile health, healthcare information technology and clinical experience in the military health system and commercial sector. He will help build upon the company's success and meet the increasing demand for integrated telemonitoring services within the public sector.

Dr. Pak served as the first CMIO and then the CIO of the Army Medical Department, an $11 billion healthcare system with more than 60,000 employees providing healthcare to 9.5 million Army and Department of Defense beneficiaries worldwide. Previously, he was the Chief of the Advanced Information Technology Group at the Army's Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center.

Dr. Pak has won numerous prestigious awards; conducted extensive research; and has published numerous articles, chapters and books on telemedicine and dermatology. He serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Telemedicine and eHealth. He is a distinguished graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. He completed his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and a fellowship in dermatology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

SVP of Sales, Account Management and Marketing, J. Mark McConnell, brings nearly 20 years of executive leadership experience in market strategy, sales and marketing, and business and corporate development in the healthcare marketplace. Most recently, he served as Verizon Enterprise Solutions' Associate Director, Mobile Health Solutions, where he created and managed mobile health business development, account management and marketing. Prior to joining Verizon, he served as SVP, Business and Corporate Development for HealthFitness, SVP, Employer Solutions Group for Healthways, Inc., and Health Plan Manager at Kaiser Permanente where he worked with General Motors.

Extremely active in the healthcare community, McConnell has served on many regional and national committees and boards. He received a Master's of Business Administration degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Muskingum College.

VP of Clinical Operations, Joanne Russell, RN, brings over 25 years of experience as an operations leader in the areas of care delivery at home, wellness, disease management and telehealth. Prior to joining AMC Health, she worked at Optum where she supported and was responsible for the clinical oversight of the delivery of care to medically complex populations in their homes by practitioners in multiple markets across the U.S. Russell was also a member of the senior leadership team at Onlife Health where she was responsible for the delivery of health coaching. Previously she was at Healthways, where Russell was part of the team that initiated disease management and she later leveraged that expertise into wellness.

Russell has broad experience with managed care and Medicare and Medicaid populations. She is passionate about providing excellent customer service and driving growth and maximum performance. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Rochester.

CIO Consultant, Frank Tucker, DHSc, has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare information technology industry. Most recently he served as CEO of MicroHealth LLC, where he led the company in myriad innovations that transformed the startup into a cutting- edge health technology solution provider. Before joining MicroHealth, Tucker served as Deputy CIO in the U.S. Army Office of the Surgeon General. He also held positions with the Joint Medical Information System (JMIS), 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and Brooke Army Medical Center.

Dr. Tucker received his Doctor of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University; a Dual Master of Arts in Computer Resource and Information Management/Procurement and Acquisition Management from Webster University; a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska and a Bachelor of Science: Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Health Science Center.

A decorated veteran, he remains a practicing clinician specializing in occupational health and preventive medicine, and is a dedicated community volunteer and educator with several adjunct professorships.
