AMD Delivers Cloud Computing Expertise at VMworld 2011


LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Aug 30, 2011) - AMD (NYSE: AMD) executives and representatives will present details of its cloud computing and virtualization strategies in four sessions, beginning August 30, at VMworld 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada:

  • In the AMD SUPER SESSION: Journey to the CORE (SUP1002) Wednesday, August 31st from 12-1:00 p.m., AMD Corporate Vice President and General Manager of server products, Pat Patla; AMD Server CTO, Don Newell; and VMware Chief Platform Architect, Rich Brunner will present a look into the future of virtualization and cloud computing. The session will highlight AMD's innovative use of VMware View to support engineering efforts and feature customer Digital Globe, who provides high-resolution earth imaging satellites and a comprehensive geo-information product.
  • AMD CIO Mike Wolfe will speak at the Wyse CIO Summit at the Cosmopolitan Hotel on September 1 at 11 a.m. as part of a panel discussion with CIOs addressing topics of cloud computing, virtualization and more.
  • Tim Mueting of AMD and Greg Otto and Keith Hallowell of Comcast will present Advanced Multi-core Architecture for Unlimited Virtualization Possibilities (SPO3968) on Tuesday, August 30th at 4:30 p.m.
  • Dr. Rema Hariharan, product development engineer at AMD, will present Scaling Memcached -- Harnessing the Power of Virtualization (SPO2115) on Thursday, September 1st at 11:00 a.m.
  • AMD, a platinum sponsor of VMworld 2011, will also show several new videos and demos at Booth #311.
