AME BC: Mineral Explorers Congratulate BC Liberals on Election Victory

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 15, 2013) - Today the Association for Mineral Exploration BC (AME BC) congratulated the BC Liberal Party led by Christy Clark on its election victory in the May 14 provincial election. AME BC looks forward to working with the re-elected majority government to position Canada's Pacific province competitively, attract investment and take full strategic advantage of the global demand for B.C.'s metal, coal and mineral resources.

"We look forward to four more years of working with a supportive government that recognizes the value of mineral exploration and mining to B.C.'s economic well-being," said Michael McPhie, Chair, AME BC.

"The BC Liberal Party has noted the importance of the mineral exploration and development industry to our province's export-based economy and skilled job creation, and recognizes the value of public investment in resource sector permitting and geoscience research and development," said Gavin C. Dirom, President and CEO of AME BC. "As globally successful and responsible mineral explorers, we will be sharing our industry perspectives with the re-elected government on why exploring, discovering and developing B.C.'s mineral-rich land is important to everyone now and in the future."

"The natural resource economy is an important socio-economic driver that employs thousands of British Columbians in high-paying and rewarding careers and funds the province's education and health care services," noted Dirom. "We look forward to continuing to build a stronger mineral exploration and development sector to the benefit of families and communities throughout British Columbia."
