Amelia Island Offers Meeting Planners "Flights for Sites"

AMELIA ISLAND, FL--(Marketwired - Nov 21, 2013) - The Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has introduced a "Flights for Sites" program offering creative incentives for meeting planners to visit the northeast Florida destination for a site inspection. Qualified planners participating in the program can receive airfare reimbursement up to $400.

"The island has a great reputation and track record for executing outstanding meetings and events, but we don't want airfare to be a barrier to new planners who want to make a site visit and see all that we have to offer," said Gil Langley, President and CEO of the Amelia Island CVB. "Once they're on island, planners can easily see why Amelia Island is a great option for their next meeting event."

To qualify for the "Flights for Sites" program, meeting planners must plan to contract a minimum of 150 cumulative guest room nights and at least $7,500 in food and beverage expenses. Meeting planners must mention the program in advance of confirming their site visit and a sales representative from the host property must also confirm planner qualification for the program in advance.

Amelia Island is home to 131,000 square feet of combined meeting and conference facilities and accommodates groups of any size and for any occasion. The small barrier island offers a variety of locations and meeting venues, including hotels in the historic downtown area of Fernandina Beach, luxury oceanfront resorts and more. The island's two largest resorts -- Omni Amelia Island Plantation and The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island -- both finished major renovation projects within the past two years, adding to the more than $150 million investment made by the island's other tourism partners over the past five years.
