American Bonanza To Refile Technical Report and MD&A

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 14, 2010) - American Bonanza Gold Corp. (TSX:BZA) ("Bonanza" or the "Company") announces that, in connection with reviews conducted by the British Columbia Securities Commission in respect of the Company's preliminary short form prospectus dated December 8, 2010, the Company will amend and re-file on SEDAR the following reports and filings:

The technical report entitled "NI 43-101 Technical Feasibility Report, Copperstone Project, La Paz County, Arizona" (the Report). The Report discloses possible mineral reserves, which are contrary to NI 43-101, and should not be relied upon. The restated report will remove this reference. The disclosed possible mineral reserves were not used in the economic calculations disclosed in the Report.

The management discussion and analysis for the interim period ended September 30, 2010 to: discuss the Company's disclosure controls and procedures (DCP) and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), in light of the Company's restatement of its interim financial statements for the period ended September 30, 2010; provide further disclosure on the Company's plans for transition to International Financial Reporting Standards; identify forward looking information; and provide disclosure regarding outstanding share data.

The management discussion and analysis for the interim period ended September 30, 2010 will also include clarification on management's conclusions with respect to the effectiveness of DCP and ICFR for the year ended December 31, 2009.
