American Business Media Goes Green

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - November 9, 2007) - As American Business Media and its members move forward during an era of digital transformation, the consideration of environmentally-friendly business ventures has become imperative.

During the President's report on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at ABM's Top Management Meeting in Chicago, ABM President and CEO Gordon T. Hughes II addressed the growing importance of corporations developing policies to coexist with the environment. Hughes announced during his report that ABM will take its first steps in a leadership role with the development of green initiatives.

"Who better than our members, with their intellectual properties and editorial products, to help American business get smarter about going green?," Hughes added. "Their magazines, Web sites and face-to-face events will continue to deliver important industry information the same way they have for more than 100 years."

The Association will begin by serving its readers and end users in a wide variety of industries with knowledge about sustainability opportunities, including the use of recycled paper and automatic lighting systems.

"Today, it's about sustainability -- sustainability that allows us to both save money and make money," Hughes stated. "Whether in the automotive industry, the construction industry, or perhaps the most visible programs at Wal-Mart or General Electric, the business world has embarked upon a very real green initiative."

ABM will officially go green during the production of its 2008 Spring Meeting at the La Quinta Resort in California, partnering with Freeman to produce an eco-friendly annual meeting. Freeman will provide innovative ideas and optional production materials and techniques for the conference, such as recycled carpeting, signage, ink, paper and more. La Quinta will add to this sustainable environment with their own green measures, including easy access to public transportation, water conservation programs, paperless check-in and check-out for guests and food sources from local growers.
