American Ecology Receives License Expanding Its Ability to Deliver Radioactive Material Field Services

BOISE, ID--(Marketwire - March 19, 2008) - American Ecology Corporation (NASDAQ: ECOL) today announced that its subsidiary, US Ecology Texas, Inc., has received a license from the Texas Department of State Health Services to perform radioactive materials remediation and decontamination services at customer locations. The Company has provided on-site radioactive materials removal and packaging services for nearly two decades. The new license expands the value added services the Company can offer to customers.

The license, which runs through 2018, allows US Ecology Texas to decontaminate, demolish, remove, characterize, package and transport radioactive material within specified limits. The license can be used throughout the United States under reciprocity agreements between Texas and other state agencies and the federal government.

"This license enhances our ability to offer turnkey solutions to our customers," commented Stephen Romano, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Ecology Corporation. "While field services are expected to remain a niche business primarily utilizing internal resources, our expanded authority to perform work at customer sites complements our well-established rail transportation capabilities and other strategies to direct additional radioactive material to our disposal sites."
