The American Fisheries Society at Its Annual Meeting in Québec City Thanks Its Sponsors

From fisheries research to management: Think and act locally and globally

QUÉBEC CITY, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 18, 2014) - The organizing committee of the 144th annual meeting of the American Fisheries Society (AFS) slated to be held at the Québec City Convention Centre from August 17 to 21, 2014 would like to wholeheartedly thank all its sponsors for their generous contributions to this important international gathering, which seeks to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems.

The committee would notably like to thank Fisheries and Oceans Canada - the event's host - as well as the Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation du Québec, Ministère de l'Économie, de l'Innovation et des Exportations du Québec, Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs, Tourisme Québec, Ressources Aquatiques Québec, the Government of Alberta, Hydro-Québec and the Office du tourisme de Québec. More than thirty other sponsors each in their own way support both the meeting and aquatic science research.

In addition to financial contributions, AFS Québec 2014 receives donations in goods and services; other sponsors have seconded staff members to AFS to help arrange all the activities associated with the American Fisheries Society's 144th annual meeting.

AFS Québec 2014 reminds the public that 40 symposia and 32 free paper sessions will be presented at the Québec City Convention Centre by experts from the aquatic resource field. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss common issues at the trade show, which features 64 exhibitors.

The mission of the American Fisheries Society is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems. Its members include professionals and students primarily from the scientific, academic and government communities but also other stakeholders from the aquatic resource field (managers, consultants, industry members, etc.).
