American Health's Beyond Disease Management Program Receives URAC Accreditation

COLUMBUS, OH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 5, 2005 -- American Health Holding, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded Disease Management accreditation from URAC, a Washington, DC-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry. The accreditation of American Health's Beyond Disease Management program complements their other URAC accredited services, which include Case Management, Utilization Management, and Health-e Outlook, their wellness website.

"By applying for and receiving Disease Management accreditation, American Health has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care," states Charles Stellar, URAC Board Chair. "Quality health care is crucial to our nation's welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards."

URAC Disease Management standards promote evidence-based practice, collaborative relationships with providers, consumer education and shared-decision making with consumers. These standards apply to all types of organizations providing services for individuals with chronic illnesses, including health plans, stand-alone disease management organizations and medical management organizations.

American Health's Beyond Disease Management program takes an innovative approach to managing chronic illness. The goal of the program is to intervene prior to a catastrophic event and to assist the member in navigating the health care system if a catastrophic event does occur. To do this, American Health stratifies the top percent of medical claims and pharmacy data to identify high risk disease states and the potential for future high-dollar claims. The program provides a continuum of intervention methodologies that integrate to provide the highest level of service at the earliest opportunity. The Beyond Disease Management program makes a difference through proactive education and health management.

"We are proud to once again be recognized by URAC as being a quality-driven organization," states Michael J. Reidelbach, President and CEO of American Health. "This accreditation is the culmination of a great deal of hard work and dedication, and we will continue working to ensure that our Beyond Disease Management program upholds the rigorous standards set by URAC."
