American Home Shield Donates $50,000 to Operation Homefront, Helping Put Veterans in Mortgage-Free Homes

SAN ANTONIO, TX--(Marketwired - May 15, 2015) - Operation Homefront is pleased to announce that with a $50,000 donation, American Home Shield has joined its effort to help military service members, wounded warriors and their families with emergency financial assistance, housing, and family support services. The gift from the nation's largest home warranty company is for a targeted matching donation program for existing Operation Homefront donors and will help continue Homes on the Homefront, Operation Homefront's mortgage-free home program for veterans and military families.

"We're grateful that American Home Shield would provide such a generous gift to honor service members and their families," said Tim Farrell, chief operating officer for Operation Homefront. "While all of the services we provide military and veteran families are critical, stable housing is proven to be an indispensable ingredient in making the successful transition from military service to civilian life with sustainability for the future. Operation Homefront wants every veteran to experience the American dream of home ownership, and partners like American Home Shield give homeowners a sense of security in that dream."

Operation Homefront created the Homes on the Homefront program to provide permanent, mortgage-free homes and supportive services to veterans. Recipients of Homes on the Homefront homes include female veterans, dual military families, Operation Homefront Village residents, and over 680 children of veterans and military personnel. In all, Operation Homefront has provided more than 450 homes to veterans and military families across the nation since 2012. The homes, located throughout the United States and furnished with appliances, are also protected by home warranties for the first two years.

"Operation Homefront does extraordinary things for deserving military families and we're proud to support such a worthy cause," said Laird Hamberlin, vice president of American Home Shield, a business unit of ServiceMaster Global Holdings, Inc (NYSE: SERV). "It's an honor to help them realize the dream of home ownership, especially given the sacrifices they've made for our nation and our freedoms."

In celebration of the $50,000 gift in matching funds, representatives from American Home Shield have been invited to join several events throughout the year where new homeowners take the keys to their new homes provided by the program.
