American Infrastructure Receives Baltimore Workforce Investment Board Business Award for Workforce Development Excellence

BALTIMORE, MD and WORCESTER, PA--(Marketwired - Aug 26, 2014) -  American Infrastructure, a leading heavy construction company and materials supplier, today announced that it received the Baltimore Workforce Investment Board (BWIB) Business Award for Workforce Development Excellence in the Hire Local (with more than 50 employees) category. Representatives from American Infrastructure accepted the award from Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake at the Chamber of Commerce's "Annual Breakfast with the Mayor" on Tuesday, August 19 at the Forest Park Golf Course.

The Hire Local category honors businesses that promote hiring by engaging with Baltimore City's public workforce system. American Infrastructure works through a number of local organizations to hire new employees, including the State Highway Administration's "On the Job Training Program," Mayor's Office of Employment Development, Project JumpStart, All-State Careers, and Catholic Charities of Baltimore.

"With locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, we recruit new employees in all the markets we serve and actively seek to partner with local agencies and institutions that provide a tangible link to the workforce in those markets. We use innovative workforce strategies to identify and hire new employees from high school age on up and we also provide unparalleled internal training programs to our employees through our Career Track programs to retain our employees and provide them with advancement opportunities," said Rich Dungan, vice president/general manager for American Infrastructure's Maryland business unit. "We are honored to be recognized for our dedication in providing employment opportunities for Baltimore residents and helping to build the local economy."

Doing business in the region for more than 75 years, American Infrastructure has built many infrastructure projects in Baltimore. Recently, it restored service to hundreds of residents and 60 businesses in record time rebuilding the collapsed Monument Street sewer line. The company has also rebuilt the Argonne Road Bridge, the Nicodemus Bridge, and recently completed the Montebello Underground Reservoir.
